Leather goods are not complicated. They are either made well or they are not. At Ginding, we operate on a simple principle: use material honest enough to improve with age, and build it in a way that respects that material.
The Hide
We work exclusively with full-grain and top-grain cowhide. Before any pattern is cut, each hide is inspected for grain consistency, temper (the leather’s natural firmness), and surface character. Hides that carry too much correction are turned away. The crocodile emboss panels are pressed at high temperature to create the signature texture that defines the AXIS collection aesthetic.
The Cut
Pattern pieces are cut with steel-rule dies to maintain dimensional accuracy across every unit. A single VERTEX Bifold Wallet requires eleven separate cut pieces before assembly begins. Tolerances are held to under a millimeter on all seam lines.
The Build
All card slots are skived — thinned at their edges — before being stitched, so the finished wallet sits flat without bulk. The VERTEX uses a bar-tack stitch at each stress point, adding mechanical strength where hands pull hardest over years of daily use. Zinc alloy hardware is set by hand and tested for pull resistance before the wallet leaves our bench.
